I AM HIP-HOP. We are Hip-Hop. Me. You. Everybody. We are Hip-Hop so Hip-Hop is going where we are going. So the next time you ask yourself where Hip-Hop is going, ask yourself: where am I going? How am I doing? - Mos Def

It was like more than a hundred degrees outside (thus the weirdest tanline I have ever gotten), all I had in my system was a bottle of water and a glass of lemonade AND we were standing the whole time (lawn seats, ugh)… Yet this was one of the best nights of my life and it’s all because of that guy right there. People kept saying how bad his set was but it was just pure amazing to me. I mean, Mos could just stand still on stage and it would still leave me in awe (even when all I could see is that screen right there). Yes, I’m biased like that.

Right now, I can go wherever I want to… whenever I feel like it. Roadblocks, empty gas tanks, what are those? But right now, let’s enjoy the traffic jam. Let’s cruise through life in this speed.

You know how they say life is like a rollercoaster? One moment you’re on top, the next you’re upside down. I never really agreed with that. Life is more like a theme park; the rollercoasters and the rides are the choices you make and the paths you take. Sometimes you wait in line for hours, sometimes you don’t. Sometimes we get sick because of the ride, sometimes we feel this special rush. We all have different experiences but one thing stays the same for (almost) all: we get out of the ride feeling different from what we’ve been.
